There are two types of Contracts
1 way contract which the player will have to go through waivers to be placed on the minor league roster (in season only)
2 way contract that allows a player to be placed on the minor league roster without having to go through waivers.
Players Will Keep Their 1-Way Or 2-Way Status Throughout Their Entire Contract. Players With A 2-Way Contract Do Not Have To Go Through Waivers, However Players With A 1-Way Contract Have To Go Through Waivers To Be Sent To The Minors.
2-Way Contracts - Players With 0-2 Years Experience or has played 99 games or less.
1-Way Contract - Players With 3+ Years Experience or has played 100 games in the NHL, which ever comes first.
example: If a player player has been in NHL for 2 season and played 30 games and 75 games respectively, he is signed to a 1way contract because he has played 100 games
******NOTE: 1-Year Experience = 25+ Games*******
A player gets a 2 way contract when players has played less the a 100 games or has been a Pro for less then 3 years or if a players is 35 years or older still playing in the NHL.
A Goalie Is A 1way Player If They Play 3 Years Of 20+ Games Or 60+ Games Played In Their Career.
A Goalie is a 2 way player if they played 59 games or less in their career or has been a Pro for less then 3 years (19 games or less per year), Or If A Players Is 35 Years Or Older Still Playing In The NHL.
